Sam Hargreaves
NURSE PRACTITIONER
Sam Hargreaves is a comprehensive and empathetic Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He has a raft of experience working for adult mental health services with Te Whatu Ora in integrated care between primary care and secondary mental health settings, with previous experience working for Alfred Psychiatry in Melbourne before he moved home six years ago to help grow our mental health workforce.
Sam has a special interest in adult ADHD. Wanting to help his clients understand and address the unique challenges faced with this neurodevelopmental condition. Over the years, he has had the privilege of working closely with people in their workup for an ADHD diagnosis, witnessing the impact it can have on their daily lives. By conducting thorough assessments and collaborating with individuals and family members, he strives to provide accurate diagnoses and evidence-based interventions. These interventions often include medication management, psychoeducation, and supportive counselling.
His understanding of the complexities of adult ADHD extends to its various co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. He is experienced in employing a holistic approach, addressing both the primary diagnosis and any related challenges to promote overall well-being.
Sam holds a Master of Nursing (HONS) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences (HONS) from the University of Auckland. He is a member of the New Zealand Nurses Organisation and Nurse Practitioners New Zealand.
